Forward planning

The first full week of November is upon us, and I’m off work for a week as I desperately try to fit in the 19 days holiday I have left before the end of the year.
I haven’t really got any plans for this week other than for Thursday which will see me at Glasgow Green [...]

The back of the bus…

I have a wee bit of a theory knocking about my head at the moment.
I’m not old (I’m fucking not, right) — but I can still remember a time when children (youth) respected (and dare I say, feared) their elders.
I also trained (albeit briefly) as a Primary School teacher, so I know what you are [...]

Lee Evans

I went to see Lee Evans in the SECC on Friday night. It was a brilliant show. I like comedy, as my About Me page says, I like to laugh. And for pretty much all of the three hours that Lee Evans was on stage, I laughed.
Good night out.

Pronounce this

Why can’t anybody say the word ‘definitely’ correctly anymore? It’s always ‘def-in-ett-lay’, or ‘def-in-ate-lay’ on the TV or radio these days. If you absolutely must pronounce every single syllable with enormous emphasis, then at least say it as ‘def-in-it-lay’ - there’s no ‘a’ or ‘e’ sound in the third syllable.
Does my fucking head in.

Holiday

I’m on holiday from work for a week. This is my first break for 14 weeks, so I’m finding it a bit weird getting into the swing of doing nothing.
I got up this morning about 8am (which is a pretty decent lie-in for me, as I’m normally up before 6am), and I’ve done nothing at [...]

Bygone days

I’m having a surprisingly good day today. I’m stupidly busy with work at the moment, and have been pretty stressed, but today has been good for two reasons:

I’m sitting listening to the new Kings of Leon album on my iPhone on repeat, and hence not answering my (office) phone as I can’t hear it ringing [...]

X marks the spot

We run a corporate intranet at my work, and I have a script that runs every hour that goes and gets the RSS feed from the BBC news website, so that on the front page of the intranet there are up to date headlines for people to be able to read.
On Friday of last week, [...]

New wheels

I have new wheels. That is to say, I have a new car, but indeed that also means I have new wheels. I had steel wheels on my last car, I now have alloys again.
I liked my last car. It was a Citroen C2 1.4 Diesel, and the fuel economy on it was simply superb. [...]

iPhone OS 2.1

Apple released version 2.1 of the OS for iPhone yesterday, which I duly installed last night. The update promised a LOT of bug fixes, and whilst I hadn’t been experiencing the behaviour that some users were complaining of (dropped calls for example), I did occasionally have some random crashes of third party applications, and very [...]

iTunes 8.0

So, new iPods were announced by Apple yesterday, which is all very nice. However, I bought an iPhone in November last year (when they were released in the UK) and part of my justification for spending the £269 on that phone was that I also needed a new iPod, and the iPhone provided me with [...]
