It’s just not cricket

Why the fuck is the main story on my NATIONAL news something to do with a guy throwing a ball wrong in a cricket match? It’s not even a fucking sport. Make the NATIONAL news something that concerns the NATION as a whole. Otherwise, stick the cricket shit on a regional broadcast. BBC cunts.

Best laid plans

I enjoy developing software. I’ve often said that if I could just be locked away in a room writing code, without having to answer phone calls and deal with all the normal day-to-day stuff my job entails, I’d be very happy. Mostly I’m self-taught, but I have had some formal training (OU) in Java programming, [...]

Apropos of nothing

Meh. So, it’s been an eventful few weeks, and almost every one of those events has been bad. There are some people out there who are clearly in need of mental help. That said, what has happened to me over the past few weeks seems so bizarre that it is something you might only read [...]

Couldn’t put it down

Well, I’m surprised I can even remember the password to get into this, it has been that long. I got an Amazon voucher for my birthday in May from my brother, and I used it about a month ago to buy a few books. I bought a book on iPhone development (I fully intend to [...]

Forward planning

The first full week of November is upon us, and I’m off work for a week as I desperately try to fit in the 19 days holiday I have left before the end of the year. I haven’t really got any plans for this week other than for Thursday which will see me at Glasgow [...]

The back of the bus…

I have a wee bit of a theory knocking about my head at the moment. I’m not old (I’m fucking not, right) — but I can still remember a time when children (youth) respected (and dare I say, feared) their elders. I also trained (albeit briefly) as a Primary School teacher, so I know what [...]

Lee Evans

I went to see Lee Evans in the SECC on Friday night. It was a brilliant show. I like comedy, as my About Me page says, I like to laugh. And for pretty much all of the three hours that Lee Evans was on stage, I laughed. Good night out.

Pronounce this

Why can’t anybody say the word ‘definitely’ correctly anymore? It’s always ‘def-in-ett-lay’, or ‘def-in-ate-lay’ on the TV or radio these days. If you absolutely must pronounce every single syllable with enormous emphasis, then at least say it as ‘def-in-it-lay’ – there’s no ‘a’ or ‘e’ sound in the third syllable. Does my fucking head in.

Holiday

I’m on holiday from work for a week. This is my first break for 14 weeks, so I’m finding it a bit weird getting into the swing of doing nothing. I got up this morning about 8am (which is a pretty decent lie-in for me, as I’m normally up before 6am), and I’ve done nothing [...]

Bygone days

I’m having a surprisingly good day today. I’m stupidly busy with work at the moment, and have been pretty stressed, but today has been good for two reasons: I’m sitting listening to the new Kings of Leon album on my iPhone on repeat, and hence not answering my (office) phone as I can’t hear it [...]
